Review: In Mickey 17, Bong Joon Ho returns with a visually ambitious yet narratively uneven sci-fi tale. Robert Pattinson plays multiple versions of Mickey, a disposable worker on a frozen colony planet, who dies and is regenerated with his memories intact. The twist arrives when two versions—Mickey 17 and Mickey 18—coexist, clashing in personality and purpose.

The film explores themes of class disparity, authoritarianism, and colonization, much like Bong's previous works (Snowpiercer, Okja), but lacks the tight control and emotional finesse of Parasite. Pattinson's eccentric dual performance stands out, while Mark Ruffalo and Toni Collette ham up their villainous roles to mixed effect.

Despite strong visuals and moments of dark humor, the overstuffed plot, uneven tone, and heavy-handed satire dilute the film's impact. Mickey 17 entertains in parts but ultimately falls short of Bong's best.
